Girl Scout Troop 20012 Completes Abstinence Class

Troop leader, Rita Eichelberger decided to start the summer with Abstinence Classes for the Girl Scouts of Troop 20012.  Each graduate completed 6 hour of the Why Know? An Abstinence Curriculum taught by Family Specialist, Elmetra Patterson, of the Families First Resource Center of the Starkville School District.  The classes were held at the Girl Scout Office in Louisville, MS. The class taught them to remain abstinence until marriage for the following benefits: 1) to avoid pregnancies, 2) to avoid contracting sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), 3) to avoid the emotional risks of worry, loss of self-respect, disappointment, depression and guilt, and 4) to assure that career goals are reachable.
These classes are for youth 10 to 19 years old.

FREE CLASSES may be scheduled by contacting: Elmarie Brooks (662) 320-4607 or Elmetra Patterson (662) 779-0169 or(510) 672-2106.
