Mississippi Granite Works - Ribbon Cutting

Mississippi Granite Works hosted a ribbon cutting and a tour of their facility in Winston County on Friday. MGW purchased the property at 358 Bond Road from the county after MDA approval. The granite works/monument company services the Ms Delta and Central Ms area with plans to expand further. According to partner Russ Nowell, the company initially plans on 5-6 employees and has 25-30 agents and three retail outlets including a location on Ball Drive in Louisville.

Of particular interest is a specific monument under preparation currently at the facility. Mississippi United Daughters of the Confederacy President Frances Woodruff has selected pieces of the original UDC Archway that was damaged in 2005 by a casino barge during Hurricane Katrina, to build a new Jefferson Davis Memorial Highway marker near Grenada, MS. The archway was located at Davis's home on the Ms. Gulf Coast. The marker will be completed by Mississippi Granite Works at the Louisville facility in  preparation for a dedication service scheduled near Grenada on Saturday, June 16th.
